Fayose Clears Air on “Stomach infrastructure”

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has explained that the "Stomach infrastructure" policy initiated by his administration goes beyond mere distribution of food stuff and money as being misrepresented by dissidents.
"It is a programme strategically designed to banish poverty from Ekiti and make life more abundant for the entire citizens, particularly, the vulnerable, aged and the less privileged", the governor clarified.
Fayose made the clarification in his office in Ado-Ekiti while receiving a delegation of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs who were in the state for a one-day sensitization campaign against Trafficking in persons and child abuse.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Kolapo Olusola said that it was the "stomach Infrastructure" policy which the government implemented during his first tenure in office which endeared him to the people and sustain their love for him till date because every citizen then had easy access to food and means of livelihood.
He expressed his delight and thanked the delegation for chosen Ekiti state for the sensitization campaign, assuring the visitors of total cooperation of government at ensuring that the menace did not have a foothold in Ekiti nor allow the state to be used as transit for traffic in persons.
The state helmsman noted that if government policy is designed and implemented in such a way that life is bearable for the people and parents are able to cater for their children, they will not be enticed to such illegality.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nurudeen Muhammed, who was represented by Ambassador Orevba Olusola briefed the Governor that they were in Ekiti for a one-day sensitization campaign on the implication of Trafficking in persons and child Abuse.
The Minister of State who explained that the campaign was designed to sensitize the people on the implications of Trafficking in Persons and child Abuse if not quickly addressed, urged civil society organizations to join hands with government at various levels to arrest the trend which has dealt a grim blow on the image of Nigeria in the comity of nations.
He appealed to the state government to extend the campaign to all the nooks and crannies of the state so as to protect the youths from being lured into the dastardly acts.
