Fayose Clears Air on “Stomach infrastructure”

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has explained that the "Stomach infrastructure" policy initiated by his administration goes beyond mere distribution of food stuff and money as being misrepresented by dissidents. "It is a programme strategically designed to banish poverty from Ekiti and make life more abundant for the entire citizens, particularly, the vulnerable, aged and the less privileged", the governor clarified. Fayose made the clarification in his office in Ado-Ekiti while receiving a delegation of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs who were in the state for a one-day sensitization campaign against Trafficking in persons and child abuse. Five Arrested For Defiling 14-Year-Old Girl In Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the defilement of a 14-year-old girl at Ikole-Ekiti on November 21. The suspects are Olaoluwa Gbenga, 20; Dada Samson, 18; Saliu kazeem, 19; Olaoluwa Lekan, 20 and Aribaloye Lekan, 20. According to a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Babayemi, the incident happened around 2 p.m. on the fateful day. "Investigation revealed that the suspects lured the victim to one of them, Dada Samson, where they took their turn to defile her. "The victim's scream attracted neighbors to the room where the suspects were caught in the acts. Detectives were contacted immediately and the suspects were arrested. "The victim was taken to the hospital and the result of medical examiner confirmed the incident. Suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is complete", the statement added. President Jonathan has picked VP Namadi Sambo as his running mate for next year's elections. The President made this known at the PDP Presidential Convention that held at the Eagles Square, Abuja. President Jonathan who was ratified as the party's presidential candidate having won all 2,812 delegates votes at the convention, told party faithfuls in his acceptance speech that he had picked his "tested and loyal" Vice President as his running mate. Why Fayose Wants OBJ Suspended

Less than 24 hours after five governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, visited former president Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has called on the leadership of the PDP to suspend the one time Head of State. Fayose, who spoke with journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Friday through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, stated that Obasanjo should be suspended from the ruling party for alleged anti-party activities. The governor also described the Thursday visit of five PDP governors to Obasanjo as unwarranted, unnecessary and uncalled for, saying "nobody should be treated as being bigger than the party." Surrender yourself to police, PDP tells Ekiti APC chairman

FOLLOWING a judgement by a federal high court sitting in Jos, Plateau State that varied an earlier ruling on an application by the Ekiti State chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Jide Awe, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Chief Awe to surrender himself for trial. The PDP said in a statement, made available to newsmen, in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday, that the APC chairman should obey the law, "since a Federal High Court in Jos has vacated an order that restrained the police from arresting him." In the statement signed by the Secretary of the PDP in Ekiti State, Dr Tope Aluko, the party said "if the APC boss has no skeleton in his cupboard, there is no need for him to be running from pillar to post in order to evade arrest by the security agents." Fayose Diverting State Fund For Private Hotel, APC Says

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of spending more than N150 million of the state fund to renovate his privately-owned Spotless Hotel, Ado-Ekiti. The opposition party in the state made the declaration while reacting to strings of allegations raised by Fayose in his maiden monthly media chat. In a statement by the State Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, on Thursday, the APC also accused the governor of deliberate lying to win undeserved sympathy and set Ekiti people against former Governor Kayode Fayemi and other APC leaders. It was disclosed that Fayose lied by saying that Fayemi owed workers two months salaries, which he (Fayose) said he was not prepared to pay. Ekiti Govt Vouch on Accreditation of EKSU College of Medicine

Ekiti State Government has assured the management of the Ekiti State University, (EKSU), Ado that it would do everything within its reach to facilitate the accreditation of all the courses in the University's College of Medicine. The Deputy Governor, Dr. Kolapo Olusola gave the assurance at a meeting with the management of the University after a familiarization visit to the Institution's College of Medicine. 193 Prisoners Who Escaped During Ekiti Prison Explosion Recaptured

193 prisoners out of the over 300 that escaped during the explosion that rocked the Federal Prison in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital on Sunday November 30th have been recaptured. Confirming their recapture, the state Prison's spokesman, Mr Ope Fatinikun said the chase for other escapees was still on.
