Your excuse for closing House ‘lame’, Fayose tells Ekiti speaker
Ekiti State government, on Saturday, reiterated its accusation that the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, was making "desperate bid to frustrate" the new administration in the state headed by Mr Ayò Fayose by his order that the state House of Assembly should go on one month recess.
According to a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi, in a reaction to the reason for declaring the recess, the government faulted the excuse, describing it as "lame and jejune."
Honourable Omirin had, in a statement by his image maker, Mr Wole Olujobi, said the lawmakers would be going on one month recess to allow for possible change of guard by the personnel of the assembly.
But Adelusi said, "The main reason why the speaker declared a one- month recess was to frustrate the passage of 2015 budget by his colleagues so that the government would be handicapped and incapacitated from performing its statutory functions to the people of the state."
The governor's image maker further accused Honourable Omirin of making a move of making the present government unpopular within the fold of lawmakers, urging Omirin to purge himself of destructive tendencies and chart a new course
He reminded Omirin that being a critical stake- holder in the project of development of the state, he (Omirin) should see himself as one of the leaders in the state who must see the development of the state as paramount in their heart rather than pursuing selfish interest.
He urged Omirin to swim with the tide of the moment by supporting the present administration to deliver the dividend of democracy to the teeming masses of the electorates who voted Fayose in as their governor in June 21 governorship election.
