NIGERIA@53,WHAT MANNER OF CELEBRATION?
By virtue of the date she got her
independence, nigeria the so called giant of africa is
53 years old today, but we must ask ourselves, what
manner will our leaders and nigerians celebrate. On
1st day of october 1960 if am not mistaken, the
ever dominating british government grant her
independence with high hopes that better things
are ahead after the day.
But after this date i mentioned above, things have
changed for the worse for the proclaimed giant of
the black race.53 years after, there is no tangible
and overwhelming development as of date which is
worth mentioning, only what we have is corruption
among political office holders,kidnapping and
political ambiguity which is now the order of
present day nigeria.
If our leaders have brain in which they use to
think, they shld rather go back to the drawing table
and re strategise for the betterment of our dear
country because the labours of our heros past in
now in vain.those front runners who faugth fiercely
with the british government in other for her to gain
independence have seen there effort wasted with
the state of things ever since.
To say the bitter fact, nigerians shld rather clad
themselves in mourning cloths to show there
disafffection with the present govt because they
haven't proved to be the messiah we yearn for.with
the golden age she clocks, nigeria shld hav been
termed as a developed country by now,but the
international community still call us the miffed
statement ''developing''.ever since the transition to
democracy on may 29 1999,the country hav been
goin from bad to worse in terms of good and
people oriented govt, all we can talk of is the
politics of benito mussolini of italy, tyrannical
dictators have taken over nigeria since its
inception, and till date things have not changed
either.53 years after, nigerians are still yearning
and clamouring for a govt to better there lives
meanwhile other countries hav overtaken us in
terms of tangible and sight seeing developments.
Am not a critics,but i prefer to call a spade a spade
and not otherwise, there is noting to celebrate as
Fƌ̲̣̣̣̥r as present day nigeria is concerned, wait, let me
ask my readers, are we to celebrate ASUU strike?
corruption?kidnapping?boko haram menace? To
mention but few of the countries numerous
problems.
Am not sure of what the president will say in his
nationwide broadcast but i bet it,it will still be the
story we have been hearing from the past, she will
be better, that is the song those leaders like
singing, but i must ask,wen will she be better?.
As the nation marks its 53 years of independent
from slave trade,am directing these short mind
blowing write up to our leaders, they shld up there
work if they truly believe in a better nigeria and as
a loyal citizen of these country,i believe a better
nigeria is possible,in the meantime,happy
independent my dear country nigeria.
APC slams Fed Govt for blackmailing ASUU
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as a cheap and ludicrous strategy’s decision by the Federal Government to use market women, religious leaders and even students to put pressure on the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its strike without resolving the issues that caused the action in the first instance. In a statement in Lagos yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the strike, which is now in its fourth month, would have ended by now if the Federal Government had pursued its negotiations with ASUU with half the energy it has been using to rally various groups to protest against the union. It described as particularly ridiculous the crowd-for-hire protest in Abuja on Monday by the so-called National Market Women Association, in which their leader vowed to chase lecturers out of Nigeria and replace them with ‘’jobless Nigerians’’. ‘’This infantile statement by the leader of the apparently misguided market w...
